How to print your tip QR — complete DIY guide 2026

Published May 7, 2026 · 5 min read · By TipsTap

You have your TipsTap QR — now you need to make it physically visible. Here's how to print it in any setup — from a quick free home test (5 minutes) to a complete pro kit (€50, delivered in 48 hours). With Belgian suppliers that actually work.

The 4 steps (15 minutes total)

1

Download your QR in SVG

From your TipsTap dashboard, click "Download". You get an SVG file (vector, scalable). Don't take a low-resolution PNG — it will pixelate when printed beyond 5 cm. SVG can be printed up to A1 format without quality loss.

2

Choose your support

It depends on your profession and location. Golden rule: place the QR where the customer's eyes are for at least 30 seconds. See the table below.

3

Print (online or at home)

For pro finish: Helloprint, Vistaprint, or a local printer. For a quick test: your home printer works (matte or laminate-able paper).

4

Place at strategic spots

Multiply contact points (never just one). Test what works, change what doesn't.

The 5 recommended physical supports

1. Round 5 cm sticker (most versatile)

The Swiss Army knife. Sticks on anything: bar, mirror, phone, helmet, window. Laminated, water-resistant. Cost: €0.30-0.80 each in lots of 50.

2. Laminated A6 card (10×15 cm)

Postcard format. Goes on restaurant tables, hairdresser counters, hotel reception. Cost: €0.50-1.50 each.

3. Table tent (A6 standing card)

The hospitality specialist. Standing on the table, easy to read while waiting. Cost: €1-3 each.

4. Lanyard badge

For mobile professionals: couriers, waiters, mobile beauticians, festival musicians. Cost: €2-5 each.

5. A4/A5 sign (musicians, events)

For long distances: mic stand, open instrument case. A4 visible at 5 metres. Cost: €0.50-2 each.

Simple rule: QR size = 1/10 of read distance. For a customer at 50 cm, a 5 cm QR is perfect.

Recommended Belgian printers

Helloprint (recommended #1)

Available in BE, FR, NL. Round 5 cm stickers in colour: ~€12 for 50 stickers. Laminated A6 cards: ~€25 for 50. Delivery 4-6 working days.

Vistaprint

Better known but often slightly more expensive. Good regular promos. Round stickers: ~€18 for 50.

Local printer

For supporting local. Count 1.5 to 2× Helloprint price, but 24-48h turnaround.

Budget option: Avery labels printed at home

Buy Avery self-adhesive label sheets (~€10 at Action or Brico) + print on your own printer. Total cost: ~€0.15 per sticker. Sufficient for 6-12 months use.

The DIY home option — in 5 minutes (€0)

  1. Download your SVG QR
  2. Open in browser, Cmd/Ctrl+P to print
  3. Print on regular paper at A6 size (1 per A4 = 4 cards)
  4. Cut with scissors
  5. Laminate with clear tape or plastic sleeve

Result: 4 usable cards in 5 minutes.

The 5 mistakes to avoid

  1. Poor QR contrast: black on white always works. Avoid light on light.
  2. Inverted QR: check on 2-3 different phones before printing in series.
  3. QR next to another QR: keep 5 cm margin from WiFi/menu QRs.
  4. QR too small: less than 2 cm = unscannable beyond 30 cm.
  5. QR on reflective surface: mirror creates reflections. Prefer matte finish.
